3048 This is the Bronze Horseman. Catherine II's tribute to Peter I, both of them 'the Great', that she found a way to put her name as top billing.
3053 Saint Isaac's Cathedral. Even though this close up view foreshortens the drum and dome, they still appear out of proportion to the main building and especially the smaller domes. The ever present old structure rehab scaffolding on the left.
3057 A rare look through the Royal Doors at the priest's domain, the altar. The large gold object in the center of the altar is the tabernacle I talked about. Near the bottom of the tabernacle you can see a little spot of red. That's the wine glass I mentioned.
3065 The inside of the main dome of St. Isaac's. The dove in the center of the top is not painted. It's a large sculpture suspended beneath the windows as the top of the dome.
3089 The crucifixion of Peter on the oak and bronze doors.
3096 The interior of St. Isaac's looking toward the iconostasis.
